Grooming Terms and Condtions

Health & Vaccinations

To ensure the wellbeing of all pets in our care, owners must confirm that their pets are fully up to date with vaccinations against common illnesses and viruses. Proof of vaccination must be provided upon request, along with details of your current veterinarian. We reserve the right to refuse service without refund if this information cannot be provided.

Elderly Pets & Medical Conditions

Grooming can be stressful for older pets or those with underlying health conditions. In such cases, Paw Lamour may seek immediate veterinary attention if we believe it is necessary. While we will attempt to contact you first, we may take your pet to your registered vet or the closest available veterinary practice. Any veterinary costs incurred will be the owner's responsibility.

Please be aware that pets may behave differently or experience mild digestive or behavioural changes after grooming. This typically resolves within a few days. If symptoms persist, consult your vet.

Fleas & Ticks

Paw Lamour operates a flea- and tick-free environment. If your pet is found with fleas or ticks, the groom will be halted and rescheduled, and the full grooming fee will still apply. We strongly advise that infestations be treated by your vet before rebooking.

  • A flea bath and premises disinfection will incur a £26 surcharge.

  • Tick removal and disinfection carry an added £10 fee.

Infested pets are at risk of health issues including tapeworms, anaemia, and skin infections, so prompt treatment is essential.

Safety & Accidents

Although we take every precaution, grooming tools are sharp, and minor incidents (e.g., cuts, scratches, or nail quickening) can occur, particularly if your pet moves suddenly. If your pet becomes too distressed or poses a safety risk, we may stop the groom in their best interest.

Please ensure your pet has relieved themselves before arriving. Avoid feeding your pet within 30 minutes of the appointment.

Inform us of any medical conditions before the groom. A vet letter may be required to confirm your pet is fit to be groomed.

Paw Lamour accepts pets for grooming entirely at the owner's risk. We do not groom pets microchipped within the past 24 hours.

We reserve the right to refuse service to any pet or customer at our discretion, and to cancel appointments if they pose a risk to staff or the pet, or if the booking is inappropriate (e.g., incorrect size, coat type, or service selected).

We do not accept pregnant pets, pets in heat, or large breeds (including large puppies) for grooming.

Coat Condition

At Paw Lamour, we encourage responsible pet ownership and regular grooming. We do not de-matt severely neglected coats, as this can cause stress and pain. Minor knots and tangles may be removed when manageable.

Maintaining your pet's coat and behaviour at home is crucial. Regular brushing, training, and socialisation help ensure a positive grooming experience.

Behaviour

Please notify us in advance if your pet has shown aggression or has bitten before. We may refuse or stop grooming any pet that displays aggressive behaviour, and a £10 Aggressive Pet Fee may be added to your bill.

If a staff member is injured by your pet, you, as the owner, are liable for any related medical, recovery, and equipment replacement costs.

We do not groom the following breeds or their crosses, including but not limited to:
Pit Bull Terrier, Dogo Argentino, Presa Canario, Tosa Inu, Fila Brasileiro, Czechoslovakian Wolfdog, Border Collie, Akita, Husky, Chow Chow, Rottweiler, Doberman, German Shepherd, Mastiff breeds, Samoyed, Saarloos Wolfhound/Wolfdog, or any wolf hybrid.

We do not accept dogs that must be registered under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991, its amendments, or related legislation.

Pricing & Appointments

Our prices are based on pets being in good health, with manageable coats and temperaments. Additional charges apply for:

  • Severely matted coats (especially those requiring clipping off)

  • Behavioural or health-related delays

Deposits & Missed Appointments

A 50% deposit is required to secure your booking. Deposits are non-refundable unless you cancel at least 48 hours in advance.

Late arrivals may be subject to the following:

  • 15–30 minutes late: £16 late fee

  • Over 30 minutes late: Considered a no-show; deposit forfeited

Late Collection

Due to limited space, pets must be collected within 30 minutes of their scheduled pick-up time. Beyond this, a charge of £15 per 15 minutes will apply.

Social Media

We may take photos or videos of your pet before or after their grooming session for use on our social media, website, or marketing materials. If you do not consent to this, please inform our team before your appointment.
